SIXTH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
Sixth grade social studies is an exploration of the world outside the Americas. Students explore ancient civilizations, the medieval world and more modern eras. Government, land forms and cultures are part of the curriculum. Major eras, such as Ancient Egypt or the Middle Ages, are explored in depth through all the disciplines.
A strong skills foundation is established in order to further develop comprehension and written communication. Students act as historians when they analyze maps, graphs, charts and political cartoons to find new information and support broad statements with details. In addition, social studies classes emphasize research skills, note taking and study skills that support intellectual growth and development.
